Flowers herald the commencement of spring and with them the promise of all that’s good and wonderful about warm weather. Long(er) nights, sun traps ready for your morning coffee with a side of contemplation and the sweet hum of bees doing their thing.
You can almost hear the chlorophyll surging through the grass and leaves; you can certainly smell it.
But it’s the colour explosion, starting with a few eager jonquils, those neon plumes of mimosa and clouds of candy-coloured blossom that erupt from trees you’ve barely noticed for the last nine months, that fills your heart with gratitude and wonder.
